Tonight marks the eighth episode of the Real Housewives of Vancouverseason one, and feuds have been erupting like land mines. The war that broke out at the Keefer Hotel between Mary and Ronnie during episode six (over Ronnie’s drinking habits), has created an equal divide between the good and the downright bitchy. Mary and Christina are the kind-hearted but bullied figures on the show, who are up against the vicious Jody and Ronnie, leaving Reiko to play the neutral (but well-armed) Switzerland-figure in the Housewife clan.

This past week marked the beginning of the The Bachelorette’s eighth season. The series welcomed their first ever single mom, Southern belle Emily Maynard, as the lucky gal who gets to have her pickings out of the 25 handsome men. This is not the first time the 26-year-old West Virginia native has been on the ABC reality series.
Viewers might remember watching her proposal from Brad Womack during The Bachelor’s 15th season. Emily won over the hearts of both viewers and Brad with her touching story of losing her first love and finance Ricky Hendrick in a horrific plane crash. The NASCAR drivers death left her devastated but also surprised, with the discovery that she was pregnant.

Unhappy Birthdays, Part 2: The politics of “birth rape” and mothers with PTSD
“In other words, women nowadays are as likely to develop PTSD from giving birth as modern solders are from military combat”.
Giving birth comparable to military combat?
A 2002 Canadian Community Health Survey on the Canadian Forces reports that 4.7 per cent of soldiers who have been deployed three or more times suffer symptoms of PTSD, and 2.8 per cent of the forces overall.
According to Vancouver Birth Trauma, about 30 per cent of women are traumatized during childbirth and two to six per cent go on to develop PTSD.

Finnick Odair casting reignites Hunger Games racism debate
With the Hunger Games sequel in pre-production, buzz has erupted over who will play the series newest eye candy.
Hunger Game enthusiasts have begun to advocate for particular stars to fulfill the role of Finnick. Thanks to the combination of a die-hard fan, Twitter and the creation of Tumblr page #JesseForFinnick, Grey’s Anatomy heartthrob, Jesse Williams is the leading contender — but racial disputes have been flaring up.
This is not the first time casting of the Hunger Games series has sparked racist comments from fans - remember arguments against African-American actor, Amandla Stenberg, to play the role of Rue.
